These products come in two types:
Certificate for General Deposit
Certificate for Specific Deposit
Term Deposit is especially for public investment. A certificate will be issued against opening of a Term deposit account with a determined due date.
- Certificate of public term deposit can bear (or not bear) the name of the holder and its main conditions are mentioned therein.
- It can be transferred to a third party. Depositor can, without canceling the contract, sell the certificate at any bank, or financial institution, and stock exchange, and transfer all its rights, in which case the relationship between the bank and the new owner remains the same.
- Until these certificates are not acceptable/transferable in the stock exchange, the bank (whether or not being the issuer) can accept any order from real/legal applicants regarding purchase of these certificates.
- Period and the related interest applied to these certificates will be determined propitious to other interest rates.
- The issuing bank can purchase these certificates, before its due date, only when re-purchasing take place the secondary market.
