Knowledge Management, (KM) is a concept and a term that arose approximately two decades ago, roughly in 1990. Quite simply one might say that it means organizing an organization's information and knowledge holistically, but that sounds a bit wooly, and surprisingly enough, even though it sounds overbroad, it is not the whole picture.
"Knowledge management is "Strategies and processes designed to identify, capture, structure, value, leverage, and share an organization's intellectual assets to enhance its performance and competitiveness". It is based on two critical activities: (1) capture and documentation of individual explicit and tacit knowledge, and (2) its dissemination within the organization.
Inaugurated in 1998, the Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise (MAKE) Award was conducted by Teleos (a British foremost independent research company in knowledge management and intellectual capital areas) in association with the KNOW network every year. It seeks to recognize organizations which outperform their peers in creating shareholder’s wealth by transforming tacit and explicit enterprise knowledge and intellectual capital into superior products/services/solutions.
Bank Pasargad started its systematic efforts on knowledge management in 2011, and has continued sustainable efforts so far, and also has maintained a holistic knowledge-driven strategy and has reached higher levels of maturity in knowledge, innovation and intellectual capital management. These successes have been achieved due to the support of leaders and human capital empowerment.
Bank Pasargad has been the winner of Iran's MAKE Award for the past 4 years. Moreover, it has been able to participate as a representative of Iran in 2015Asian Make Winners
